We are searching for a Technical Director to steer our engineering team. This vital role involves overseeing engineering teams from a personnel, technology, and process standpoint. It's not just about coding or direct technical tasks; it's about embodying leadership to inspire, guide, and help a talented team grow. The Technical Director is akin to an orchestra conductor, bringing a cohesive vision to the team and pushing the boundaries of mobile gaming.

The perfect candidate will possess a mix of technical expertise and people management skills, with an ability to navigate and coordinate the complexities of game development processes. You will join the Games leadership team and have the chance to influence the most downloaded game in the world. Additionally, you will be part of the Technical Leadership community, contributing to the technical strategy.

Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor the engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence. Provide career development through training, hands-on learning, and feedback.
• Capability Assessment and Development: Evaluate team capabilities, identify growth opportunities, and address skill gaps.
• Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the game leadership team to define the technical vision and translate business goals into technical strategies. Break down strategies into technical roadmaps and prioritize alongside product features.
• Technical Oversight: Oversee game architecture, engineering processes, and the technical health of the game. Ensure best practices are maintained and continuously improved. Implement new systems as needed to support evolving game development needs. Stay updated on the latest trends in mobile gaming technology. Align overall architecture with technical leadership and the Chief Architect.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams like Art, Design, Product Management, Quality Assurance, and Production. Act as a technical liaison between the game development team and central technology. Engage with and contribute to the Engineering community.
• Communication: Clearly communicate technical capabilities and project statuses to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Produce clear documentation and reports that enhance the transparency of engineering processes and technical decisions.

Requirements:

• Extensive experience in a technical leadership role within the gaming industry.
• Proven leadership skills and ability to mentor and develop technical talent in a collaborative and innovative environment.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively articulate technical vision and strategy to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong foundation in software engineering principles, architecture design, and scalability considerations.
• Ability to set and drive a technical vision and direction for projects, make data-informed decisions, and drive alignment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Product-savvy with the ability to understand, discuss, and interact with all disciplines on the game team without being an expert.
