Our client is an independent AAA studio in Ljubljana, Slovenia, searching for a Senior Technical Game Designer to help bring their next title, a melee combat title with survival aspects, to life.
We’re a tight-knit squad of international developers based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and we’re on the hunt for someone who lives and breathes gameplay systems. If you love building fun, responsive, melee-driven mechanics and making Blueprints dance in Unreal Engine, this one’s for you.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Blueprinting Brilliance – Build, tweak, and perfect gameplay systems and mechanics using Unreal Engine's Blueprint system
- Team Fusion – Work shoulder-to-shoulder with designers, coders, and artists to breathe life into features, systems, and prototypes
- Prototype, Iterate, Polish – Own your features from concept to execution; refine your work based on team feedback and hands-on playtesting
- Speak Fluent Dev – Translate technical talk into plain English for creative teammates (and vice versa)
What We're Looking For:
- A solid grasp of Unreal Engine and hands-on experience using it to build gameplay
- Gameplay Ability System (GAS) – experience with the framework for building game mechanics, to create and manage character abilities, attributes, and interactions.
- Strong scripting fundamentals and a technical mindset — you don’t need to be a full-time coder, but you get how systems tick and have some technical skills.
- A deep passion for melee combat systems — you know your hit boxes from your parries, and you think like a player
- Excellent communicator and collaborator, with a proactive attitude and positive team energy
- Fluent in English (written and spoken) — we’re an international team, and clear communication is key
- An interest and passion for playing melee combat games with survival elements, Soulslike genre titles such as Elden Ring, or games like Valheim, Kingdom Come - Deliverance 2, or Enshrouded.
